My Brother Knights,
It is with great pleasure and pride that I serve as your State Deputy and represent you -- my fellow Knights. I am looking forward to working with you for the betterment of our great Order.
Presently, we have 72 councils and over 8,000 knights in the state of Alabama; it is my goal to have 80 councils and 9,000 knights by the end of my administration. We will accomplish this by working together as a team to achieve Father McGivney’s dream of one Knights of Columbus council in every parish.
Our theme this year is: “The Year of the Volunteer”. I ask that every Council during the fraternal year conduct at least one major activity in each of the following categories -- Church, Community, Council, Family, Youth and Pro-life.
My fellow officers and I, along with our District Deputies are here to serve you; if you need any assistance, we are just a phone call or e-mail away.
Also, I would like to make sure that each and every seminarian is adopted by a council and that; every council holds a fundraiser and contributes $1,000.00 to our Priesthood Scholarship Fund. Our “Year of the Priest” theme officially closed on June 19th, but as Knights every year is the “Year of the Priest”. If you are not a parish-based council, please attach yourself to a parish and work with the pastor to accomplish things on his “wish list”.
May God bless us one and all as we go forth as Knights to serve this great Order.
Yours in Christ,
Ray Carney
State Deputy
